The Ifa "Ide" (pronounced eeday) is a bracelet of two alternating bead colors...the Ifa Foundation uses the traditional colors as worn in Africa. This is worn on the left wrist to prevent death before your time. The story relates to how Iku (death) and Orunmila made a pact and Iku promised not to take Orunmila's children before their time. The children of Orunmila were instructed to wear the Ide on their left wrist so that Iku would know who to pass by. Each Ide contains a single Sacred Ikin and is properly consecrated with a ceremony at Ola Olu at the Orunmila Sacred Garden during Ifa initiation ceremonies. Worn for protection to prevent accidental death as well as Death before your time.
