The name Osun staff (pronounced: Oh soon) will be interpreted in my visual forms throughout history.

As seen here today... Iya Vassa has translated the meaning in her own version.  The main elements are the center bird...known as “Ontotoo” (the connection with Odu)  Circling around this element one would most likely find 2 or more- up to 16 smaller birds that represent the 16 sacred messages that Odu delivers.

A Babalawo- male Priest of Ifa would have one of these staffs placed where he performs Divination for his clients.  The same staff would be brought out the Sacred Ifa Grove and planted into the earth at the time of Initiation rituals involving Orunmila.
